About Ilmatar Institute

News and Events
“Ilmatar” is the most powerful metaphor of creativity introduced in the Finnish mythological epic of Kalevala. Ilmatar Institute was founded in Virtasalmi, Finland and began the construction of the training site in 2000. The construction was completed in the summer of 2007.

The site consists of a training studio, IAM Atelier (IAM Ateljee), a small Guest Cottage (Vieras Aitta), a Christ Chapel (Kristus Kappeli), a Zen Shed (Zen Vaja) wood shed, a large Rock Garden (Kivi Puutarha), a Sampo Sauna by the lake, an Art Stable (Taide Talli), an outdoor Sky Gallery (Taivas Galleria), and in its garden rooms, several meditations sites.

Ilmatar Institute offered pilot workshops in 2003 and 2005. Ilmatar Institute will formally open its doors and the NohKiDo™ training will begin in the summer of 2008.
