Dr. Sirkku M. Sky Hiltunen Biography

Sirkku M. Sky Hiltunen (AKA Dr. Sky), Ph.D., Ed.D., RDT-BCT, ATR-BC, BCPC, MT, LPC, Master Teacher of SohKiDo™, NohKiDo™ and Therapeutic Noh Theater®. She has developed in the course of forty years her methods. She is a native of Finland. In 1998 she received her Ph.D. in Transpersonal Psychology from the Union Institute and University, and her Ed.D. from the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC in 1983. She is Board Certified in Art Therapy and Board Certified Trainer of Drama Therapy. She is a visual artist, performer, designer, choreographer, and director. She is the Co-Founder, Executive Vice President of the Art and Drama Therapy Institute, Inc. in Washington, DC and the CEO/President of Beyond Mask, Inc. She was the first President, the founder, and the Artistic Director of The Therapy Theater Company, Inc. (TTC) (1985-2003).

Since 1988 Dr. Sky has studied Noh Theater in Kyoto, Nara and Fukuyama, Japan. She has a black belt in Tai Chi. She has taught professionally in the USA as well as Canada, England, Finland, Japan, Lithuania, and Russia. She has published in Canada, the USA and Japan. She is the Founder of Ilmatar Institute in Finland, which offers, beginning 2008, international summer training in NohKiDo™ training of Therapeutic Noh Theater®. Since 1972 her special calling has been to serve persons with differing abilities, whom she considers her transpersonal teachers.
